FAITH AND FOOTBALL 

LOCKS HEATH YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE

The charity Faith and Football operates a number of community youth football leagues around the country having been started in Portsmouth by Pompey footballer Linvoy Primus and ex-player Mick Mellows. The next season of the league in the Locks Heath area will commence on Monday 14th May 2012 and takes place at Hunts Pond Road Recreation Ground, Titchfield Common. Run by volunteers from Locks Heath Free Church the league is designed to encourage young people to get active and enjoy the competitive nature of football.

The Summer League lasts for 5 sessions (alternate Monday evenings from 14th May 2012) and concludes with a presentation celebration on Sunday 15th July at Locks Heath Free Church. Ages 7-10 years old play from 7.00pm – 7.45pm, ages 11-15 play from 7.45pm-8.30pm. Numbers are limited to 32 per group and pre-registration is essential to be able to participate. A registration evening takes place on Monday 30th April, 6.30pm-8.00pm at Locks Heath Free Church.

The young people who have registered will be put into teams with a manager and then play a round robin league over the 5 sessions. Each team will play six 8 a-side matches each evening lasting 6 minutes each with a referee controlling the game.

There is no cost for registration or the season but participants are expected to wear appropriate sports clothing, football boots and shin pads. (We will be able to help if the young people do not have these)
